Located on the outskirts of the city, Shenyang
Normal University is spread over a spacious, beautifully sculptured
campus. Like a hermit crab in a new shell, in its new setting
the university has the space and modern facilities it needs
to continue growing and improving its reputation. The university
has recently formed a joint venture with Fort Hays State University,
Kansas, and an International Business School set up by the
two universities now occupies a large portion of the north
side of the campus.

In China, universities denoted
as ˇ°Normalˇ± are primarily teacher training colleges, hence
the large proportion of female students in the factfile
above. These universities are very good for studying Chinese
Language because the teachers have usually graduated from
degree courses specializing in teaching foreign students.

Shenyang Normal University also includes
a School of Tourism and a School of International Business.
The Chinese Language Centre for international
students is located in the centre of the campus. The dormitory,
teaching rooms and restaurant area are all situated inside
the same building. The complex also contains a free internet
cafe, a convenience store and a sports room.
