Whereas the USA has MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology),
the PRC has HIT (Harbin Institute of Technology).

HIT, like MIT in the US, maintains
a strong reputation in China for academic excellence,
particularly in the field of technology. Research students
come from all around the world to join HIT's Masters and
Doctorate Programmes. One feature of the doctorate programmes
at HIT is that they can all be conducted entirely in English,
removing the necessity for Chinese ability or HSK certification.

The university's particular areas of expertise include aerospace
engineering, robotics and telecommunications.
The HIT campus covers an area of 343 hectares, located close
to the centre of the city of Harbin. It is the most ¡°international¡±
university in the city, with students from 43 countries currently
enrolled in study programmes.
HIT has a well-established foreign language curriculum, and
the campus dormitory is spacious and affordable. In many ways
HIT is an ideal place to study, as it is a prestigious university
located in an affordable town where a very standard form of
Putonghua Chinese is spoken.
