Located near to the centre of town, Dalian University of Foreign Languages is an educational institute geared exclusively towards teaching language and linguistics. The university concentrates on five languages: English, French, German, Japanese and Russian. It also has been teaching Chinese Language to foreign students for over forty years, and is regarded as a leader in the field of foreign language study.

Smaller than the other universities in the ARAQ Network, Dalian University of Foreign Studies has a compact campus which allows frequent interaction between students studying the various languages. The international division teachers over 800 students from 43 countries, although the majority come from Korea and Japan.

The dormitory block and teaching block are adjacent to each other, providing a convenient environment for the students. Being close to the centre of town, there are bars and restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets within easy walking distance of the university
