 University Introduction

Located near to the centre of town, Dalian University of Foreign Languages (DUFL) is an educational institute geared exclusively towards teaching language and linguistics. The university concentrates on five languages: English, French, German, Japanese and Russian. It also has been teaching Chinese Language to foreign students for over forty years, and is regarded as a leader in the field of foreign language study.

Although not as large and well-known as some of the other universities HYCC works with, DUFL has a long history of teaching Chinese Language to foreign students.  In 2008 more than 1,300 foreign students from 43 countries attended the university.

Most of the non-Chinese Language departments of the university have moved to a campus further from the centre of town, however the foreign student division seems set to stay at the current campus for a while longer.  This is probably because the foreign students like the environment there and would oppose a move out of town.  HYCC will keep readers updated of future plans at DUFL on these pages.

Due to its central location, DUFL is very convenient for students.  A 8 RMB (EUR 1) taxi ride up the hill on the way home in the evenings encourages many students to go out frequently.  On the downside, both the dormitory and apartments in the surrounding area tend to be rather expensive.
