Most of the best accountancy graduates come out of this university, which is located about 8km from the centre of the city. Spread across an attractive campus, the Dongbei University of Finance and Economics provides a nice environment to study in. Neither too close to the centre of town not too far (it is further from the centre than DUFL but closer than DUT), the university is surrounded by some of the nicer Dalian suburbs.
The school has seen a large increase in foreign students over the past several years, and now there are several hundred studying their each semester. The university is relatively proactive, organizing events for the students throughout the teaching year. There is even a group of North Korean students studying there, although they are not allowed to interact with the other foreign students.
DUFE is also the nearest of all the universities on the HYCC Network to the sea. It is just walking distance to Xinghai Park, which is a popular spot for swimming in the summer. From there it is a short jog to Xinghai Square, reputed to be the largest square in Asia and one of the most pleasant places in Dalian to visit.
