HYCC Basic Service
HYCC Services are designed to support students wishing to learn Mandarin Chinese in China. They are designed around the fundamental concept that universities handle the language teaching while HYCC provides supplemental services to participating students.
The HYCC Basic Service is designed to manage the university application and registration processes. It also helps students adapt to life in China during their first few weeks in China. Specifically, the support provided includes the following:
_ Answering various questions asked by participants prior to arrival
_ Arranging enrolment on the specific course desired by students
_ Preparing and sending all documents necessary for visa application
_ Reserving dormitory rooms
_ Meeting students at the airport / train station in the destination city
_ Arranging transportation to the university and check in at the dormitory / hotel
_ Registering students at university
_ Opening bank accounts for students
_ Accompanying students to the health check (if necessary, depending on visa type)
_ Providing a campus and town orientation
_ Negotiating with the university if students are not happy with their class allocation.
_ Helping the participants buy a mobile phone, SIM card, international calling card etc.
_ Other general services as reasonably requested by participants (not including helping participants to find an apartment off-campus. This is charged separately - see the apartment search page)
HYCC Basic Service Cost
HYCC charges a fixed cost of EUR 260 / US$ 330 for the services provided under the Basic Service. Please note that this is separate to all the related costs payable to the university for tuition and accommodation after arrival.
In order to reduce the risk to participants of paying a large amount of money before the commencement of the course, HYCC splits its fee into two installments. The first instalment of EUR 100 / US$ 125 should be paid after HYCC confirms that the applicant can be accepted onto the course by the university (before arrival in China). The second instalment is only paid after the participant arrives in China, and once HYCC has helped setup his / her bank account in China.
Please note that unlike the fees payable in Chinese Renminbi to the university, the fee charged by HYCC is fixed in either US$ or Euros and will not change based on the future exchange rate fluctuations.
Applicants should also be aware that they will have to pay a fee to the Chinese Embassy in their home country for processing of the visa. The amount of this fee depends upon the country and visa type applied for.
Advantages of Using the HYCC Basic Service
_ Participants can be confident that the enrolment and visa application process will be handled smoothly and efficiently
_ Prior to arriving in China participants can use our experience to receive reliable advice about necessary preparation
_ Participants need not worry about paying university tuition and accommodation fees in advance. The only fee to be paid is the first instalment of the HYCC Basic Service fee (Euro 100 / US$125). This has two advantages:
1. Participants understand clearly what they will be paying for before handing over money to the university for tuition and accommodation
2. The financial loss to a participant is limited if they need to cancel or delay their trip to China for some reason (sickness / injury / change in circumstances etc.)
_ Upon arrival in China participants will have someone to meet them and deal with any immediate emergencies
_ During the first few weeks after arrival participants will be able to concentrate on study while HYCC assists them to organize their new life outside of the classroom.
